The deadline day signing scored the equaliser against Reading this week.
Nottingham Forest fought back from 1-0 down too claim a 1-1 draw in the Championship yesterday evening against fellow strugglers Reading.
The result seemed fair on the overall balance of play, despite Forest perhaps having the better of the second-half.
They had to wait until the 85th minute to get their equaliser, coming courtesy of deadline day arrival Lee Tomlin’s first goal for the club.
His goal and performance were a major positive for Forest and one ex-Forest man was very impressed. Brian Laws spent six years at the City Ground, winning the League Cup twice in his stint with the club.
He was clearly impressed by Tomlin’s performance, as evident in his comments on BBC Radio Nottingham:
“Outstanding second half, particularly the energy and drive and determination from the kick-off.
“Lee Tomlin makes things happen and he does it on a regular basis and you can see why Karanka’s gone for him.”

Tomlin is a divisive figure, mainly for his appearance rather than his ability, but he is swiftly showing he is capable still at Championship level with his impact at Forest so far.
After being cast aside at Cardiff City he needed a chance to shine again and Aitor Karanka, who knew him well from his time at Middlesbrough, will no doubt give him ample opportunity to do just that.
Forest fans will hope he can continue to find the net until the end of the season.
