Rangers hero Brian Laudrup has told the Scottish Daily Mail (13/10, p81) that Alfredo Morelos must be ‘incredibly annoyed’ with his record against Celtic.

Domestic football returns this weekend following the international break, and Scottish football has a huge game this Saturday.

At lunch time on Saturday, Celtic host Rangers in the first Old Firm derby of the season, with title momentum already on offer.

Rangers sit top of the Scottish Premiership table with eight wins from 10 games, conceding just three goals so far this term.

Celtic are just a point behind though, meaning they can leapfrog Rangers into top spot with a win, whilst still having a game in hand.

Rangers will need to break down Celtic, and they could really do with Alfredo Morelos to turn up and finally break his hoodoo against the Bhoys.

Morelos has played 12 times against Celtic but still hasn’t scored against them, whilst picking up five yellow cards and two reds.

The Colombian hasn’t been at his best this season, but Rangers will be hoping it’s lucky number 13 for Morelos this weekend as he desperately seeks to score against Celtic.

Now, Laudrup has suggested that the record must be ‘incredibly annoying’ for Morelos, but backed the Rangers coaching staff to try and get the best out of him against their Glasgow rivals.

“Of course, the fact Morelos has never scored in an Old Firm match is part of the narrative here,” said Laudrup. “It must be incredibly annoying in his mind, but I think the Rangers management team will try everything in their power to make him focus on his performance first,” he added.
