Brian Deane has raved about reported Leeds United summer target Jens Petter Hauge on Twitter following his performance against Celtic.

The former Leeds striker was impressed by the display produced by Hauge for AC Milan in their 4-2 win against Celtic at San Siro in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Deane is surprised that no club in England signed the 21-year-old winger before he moved to Milan from Bodo/Glimt in the summer of 2020.

Leeds were reportedly interested in Hauge. Calciomercato reported on September 22, 2020 that the West Yorkshire outfit were leading the race for Norway international winger, as covered by HITC Sport here.

However, the 21-year-old moved to Milan, with Leeds eventually bringing in Brazilian winger Raphinha from Rennes.

How did Jens Petter Hauge play against Celtic?

Hauge’s performance for Milan against Celtic in Italy on Thursday evening was very good.

The winger found the back of the net in the 50th minute and was a constant problem for the Hoops’ back-line.

According to WhoScored, Hauge took two shots, made three key passes, had a pass accuracy of 73%, won two headers, took 59 touches, attempted three dribbles, and made three tackles and one clearance.

So far this season, the winger has scored one goal in 47 minutes in Serie A and has scored two goals and provided one assist in 190 minutes in the Europa League for Milan, according to WhoScored.
