Brentford’s Scott Hogan has been named Sky Bet’s Championship Player of the Month for September but warns the Championship, via the Bees website, that there are more goals to come.

Hogan earned the award this month after scoring six goals in five matches throughout September.

This included a brace against Brighton and Hove Albion and a hat trick the following week in the team’s 5-0 drubbing of Preston North End.

After picking up the award, the 24-year-old told the club’s website: “It is not just for myself. There are three or four people in the team who probably deserve the award just as much as me.

“Harlee Dean, John Egan and Daniel Bentley could easily have won this award as well.

“Since I have been back, in three footballing months, I have been nominated twice and won one now which isn’t bad going.

“It is a team thing and if someone is getting rerwarded then it is because the team are doing the right thing. Personal achievements are team achievements.”

The Bees forward beat off competition from Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham, Norwich City’s Jacob Murphy and Brighton centre-back Shane Duffy.

And despite netting six goals for the squad, bringing his season tally to seven with one assist, Hogan warns that there will be more.

“I think that I should have more to be honest. Hopefully I can just keep going. My target at the start of the season was to get 30 goals and I think that I am well on the way to getting that.”

The last person to score 30 goals in a Championship season was the 2012/13 top scorer Glenn Murray for Crystal Palace.

Ross McCormack scored 28 for Leeds United in the following season while Burnley’s Andre Gray was last season’s top scorer.

Scott Hogan is currently joint second with Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle as they both have seven goals to their name, trailing Tammy Abraham with nine goals and two assists.

Brentford have gathered some momentum going into the international break, having taken 11 points from the last six matches and leaving them in seventh place in the league.
