Aston Villa have appointed former Brentford boss Dean Smith as their new manager.

Brentford Chief Executive Mark Devlin has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message to new Aston Villa manager Dean Smith.
Smith has left Brentford for Championship rivals Villa, with Chelsea legend John Terry – who spent the 2017-18 campaign at Villa Park – becoming his assistant manager.

Good appointment
Smith was in charge of Brentford from November 2015 until now, and he did a remarkable job at Griffin Park.
Under the 47-year-old, the Bees played some wonderful football, and Villa fans will hope to see something similar at Villa Park.
The Villans have not been great so far this campaign, but the Villa Park faithful should be optimistic for the rest of the season.
Villa are very much in the running for the Championship playoffs, and a few good results after the international break will set them up finely.
As for Brentford, the Bees are also aiming to end the season in the top six of the Championship table this season.
