Brentford hosted Leeds in the Championship
Leeds United’s play-off challenge faltered as they slipped to defeat away at Brentford.
Their defeat was summarised by BBC Radio Leeds analyst and former Whites striker Noel Whelan.
He said: “We shouldn’t have to rely on other teams, we’ve got to start doing it ourselves.
“The first half was a footballing lesson we didn’t get close. We can’t keep doing that. You can’t win games by playing one half.”
Leeds had left out Ronaldo Vieira, Alfonso Pedraza, Eunan O’Kane and Charlie Taylor, but welcomed back Pontus Jansson, with Liam Cooper starting a four-game suspension.
Brentford’s Lasse Vibe celebrates scoring their second goal
Brentford were inspired by Sergi Canos, who signed for the club in January and had been linked with a move to Leeds.
The Bees scored early on through Romaine Sawyers before Lass Vibe doubled their lead heading into half-time.
Leeds face Simon Grayson’s Preston North End at Elland Road at the weekend, who hammered Bristol City this evening and are gaining on the play-off places.
