Nathan Wood has emerged as a summer transfer target for Brentford.
According to the Daily Mail, Brentford are considering launching a £4 million bid for Swansea City’s Nathan Wood.
Thomas Frank wants to add greater depth to his defensive contingent ahead of next season, despite having already brought in Nathan Collins from Wolves. Wood could certainly add even more quality to the group of centre-backs the Bees already have to choose from. If they can bring him to the Gtech Community Stadium for just £4 million too, then Brentford will certainly have bagged themselves a bargain.

Who is Nathan Wood?
At just 21-years-old, Wood is already a mainstay in the Swansea rearguard. At 6’2” he is a powerful defender, but also supremely confident and capable in possession. Ex-Swansea boss has heaped praise on Wood in the past, saying “He is becoming a real leader in the group…He will play at the very top…he is built like a heavyweight boxer and he can run very fast. He displays unbelievable courage and technique on the ball,” as quoted by the BBC.
Wood certainly has all the raw materials needed to be an exceptional centre-back in the modern game. Whether he’s ready to compete week-in, week-out at Premier League level is another matter. Alternatively, a season sat on the Brentford bench, behind Collins, Ethan Pinnock, and Ben Mee in the pecking order could stunt his growth.
Brentford should certainly act on their interest in Wood, but Frank will have to manage his development carefully to ensure that he reaches the heights he is capable of.
