Brentford manager Dean Smith says there have been no offers for Sunderland and West Ham targets Ryan Woods and Jota.

Brentford manager Dean Smith says that the club have not received any bids for West Ham United and Sunderland targets Jota and Ryan Woods.

West London Sport linked the Hammers with a move for Jota, who is valued at around £8m, while the Black Cats have been named as the most likely suitors for Woods by the Sunderland Echo.

Yet Smith says that despite reports suggesting otherwise, the Bees are yet to have any offers coming in for either of their star players.

“I can deny it [a bid for Jota] because we haven’t had a bid at all,” the 46-year-old was quoted by getwestlondon.

On the subject of Woods, Smith added: “We’ve had no offer from them so I’d put them back where they were as rumours.”

Newly appointed as boss at the Stadium of Light, Simon Grayson is looking to reshape his squad for a season back in Championship football following relegation.

Grayson views Woods as the ideal person to do that with significant experience in the English second tier and it was believed he would be available for around £2m.

After spending the first half of last campaign on loan at Eibar, Jota came back to Griffin Park at the end of December and impressed by scoring 12 league goals in 21 games.
