Brentford are lining up a move for highly-rated Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock before the transfer window closes next week, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Brentford are in the market for a new centre-half before the close of the transfer window after selling Chris Mepham to Bournemouth for £12million earlier this month and they have identified Pinnock as a top target.
Pinnock has impressed at Barnsley since joining the club in the summer of 2017 from Forest Green Rovers.
The 25-year-old was one of Barnsley’s shining light last season despite their relegation from the Championship the cultured central defender has established himself as a key player in the Barnsley side.

Pinnock has been an ever-present for Barnsley in League One so far this season and he has made 33 appearances in all competitions.
Pinnock still has 18 months to run on his contract at Oakwell and Barnsley would be reluctant to lose the key defender as they look to try and win promotion back to the Championship, but Brentford are ready to test their resolve to hang onto Pinnock with a firm bid.
