Brentford are amongst the Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign Habib Diallo this summer.

According to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, writing on Twitter, Brentford are in the race to sign Habib Diallo in this transfer window. West Ham United and Newcastle United are also interested in the Strasbourg striker. Roma represent another potential destination for the forward.

Brentford may well be seeking a new striker this summer as they prepare to take on the first half of the new season without Ivan Toney, whose ban for gambling offences will see him excluded until January. Diallo could be Thomas Frank’s preferred choice to lead the line for the Bees in Toney’s absence.

Diallo will likely also be keen to test himself in the Premier League having shown fine goalscoring form in Ligue 1 last season.

Who is Habib Diallo?

The 28-year-old striker plays for Strasbourg, having previously turned out for Brest and Metz. He enjoyed the best campaign of his career last time out, netting 20 times in the French top flight. He has also amassed 18 caps for Senegal, and was part of the squad that triumphed in the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

Diallo is in the prime of his career and now would be the ideal time for him to test himself beyond the confines of French football. Brentford would be a great place for him to show his quality. There is a natural gap in the squad at presence due to Toney’s absence, and Frank’s side are capable of generating plenty of chances for him to latch onto.
