Josh Clarke and Romaine Sawyers helped Brentford secure their first win at Loftus Road in 52 years.

Clarke opened the scoring just before half time, and Sawyers scored his first ever goal for Brentford after the break. A Maxime Colin pass allowed Sawyers to fire the ball into the top left-hand corner.

Both sides created chances in the west London derby, with Idrissa Sylla going close for QPR. But in the end, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side couldn’t do enough to get back in the game.

Victory for Dean Smith means that Brentford have moved up to eighth and are now just one point of the play-off places. However, the Bees were dealt a blow as Lewis Macleod was carried off the pitch on a stretcher with a knee injury. Defeat leaves QPR 13th in the table with only one win from their past seven home league matches.

Brentford’s next game is at home to Fulham on November 4th, while QPR will travel to Nottingham Forest on November 5th. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will no doubt be under pressure to secure a victory.
