Tottenham Hotspur have advanced into the final of the Carabao Cup after beating Brentford 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Spurs knew that a win over the Championship side would tee up a final meeting with Manchester City or Manchester United, and they got exactly what they needed.

Moussa Sissoko put Spurs in front as he headed home Sergio Reguilon’s cross, before Son Heung-min raced clear to add a second after the break.

Brentford did threaten an equaliser as Ivan Toney has a goal ruled out for offside, but Spurs managed the game well and came away winners.

The game turned a little nasty late on, as Josh Dasilva was given a straight red card for a lunge on Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Hojbjerg was substituted with a gash down his shin, though he and Dasilva have publicly cleared the air on Twitter.

There was a nice moment at the end of the game for Hojbjerg though, as Brentford boss Thomas Frank found him for an embrace on the pitch.

Frank had a close relationship with Hojbjerg having coached him for Denmark’s Under-17’s and Under-19’s, and the pair shared an emotional moment on the pitch after Spurs had dumped Frank’s side out of the cup.
