Nottingham Forest will hand reported Leeds United target Brennan Johnson a new contract, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic reported last month interest from Leeds in Forest youngster Johnson.

Leicester City, Brentford and Barnsley were also named in the report.

The Athletic are reporting this morning that Forest are expected to hand the 20-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, a new deal.

Leeds United to miss out?

Johnson is a very talented and promising young player who has already earned two caps for Wales.

The youngster spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Lincoln City.

The attacker was a regular for The Imps in League One.

Johnson scored 11 goals and gave five assists in 43 League One appearances and scored one goal in two FA Cup games.

The youngster showed his versatility by playing as a forward, out wide and in a central attacking midfield role last season.

The Welshman is very talented and is likely to play a big role for Forest next season, and it makes sense that the Reds plan to hand him a new deal and keep him at the club.

It will come as a blow for Leeds, who could have done with a player such as Johnson.
