Brenden Aaronson has told the MLS website that he was actually discussing golf with Chelsea star Christian Pulisic when he and Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams were pictured with their United States teammate earlier this season.

Pulisic, 24, was being linked with a surprise move to Elland Road in the summer. The USMNT skipper is struggling to earn regular game time at Chelsea – largely under Thomas Tuchel. The arrival of Graham Potter could change that.

But Pulisic has remained at Stamford Bridge. With the World Cup on the horizon, Pulisic will want to be playing more regularly and he certainly would have done that at Leeds. The Whites beat Chelsea 3-0, and Pulisic posted a picture.

It cause a bit of backlash from Chelsea fans given the result at Elland Road. On the pitch after a woeful result, speaking to two of the players that had just inflicted the 3-0 loss. Aaronson gave his take on the photo, speaking to MLS.

“After the Leeds game, me, Christian and Tyler were talking about golf, and hanging out. I’ve been on the golf grind, I have a little bit of a golf bug right now. I’m lucky because in the area I am, there’s like five golf courses.”

Pulisic would have been an immense signing for Leeds but ultimately, the Chelsea man might have felt Leeds were beneath him. At least, until Leeds humiliated Chelsea at Elland Road – with Adams and Aaronson shining bright.

He would be a regular for Leeds if he had joined. Instead, he looks more than likely to continue warming the bench at Chelsea. In Graham Potter’s first game, he was afforded just six minutes of game time for the West London club.

Perhaps in January, or next summer, Pulisic will consider his options and if Leeds continue their impressive start to the season – maybe a move could happen. The temptation is there, given the US contingency residing in Yorkshire.
