Leeds United ran an extra 10 kilometres than Chelsea on Sunday as they produced a stunning 3-0 win over Thomas Tuchel’s side – and Brenden Aaronson has aimed a cheeky dig at the Chelsea players, saying Leeds wanted it more.

Goals from Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison got the goals as Leeds produced a shock result. Tuchel’s side had chances, but lacking a no.9, they failed to provide any kind of cutting edge. Leeds were much the better team.

The energy of the Elland Road crowd transpired into the Leeds players on the pitch. The pressing, the tempo, the quality when on the ball, it made Chelsea look incredibly ordinary. The Sun say Leeds ran 10km more than Chelsea.

Asked about the running stats after the game, Aaronson aimed a dig at Chelsea by claiming it is proof that the Leeds players wanted the win more than Chelsea. Given the increased distance of running, it is hard to argue with Aaronson.

“I’ve dreamed about this for a long time and it’s a dream come true and it shows how much progress we have made. It [out-running Chelsea by 10km] shows who wanted it more. The crowd got us pumped up and everyone was driven.”

What a performance from Aaronson. While Harrison won the man-of-the-match award for a goal and an assist from the left flank, USA international Aaronson was superb. His ability to pick up spaces in between the lines was stunning.

His energy, his press, and his efficiency in the final third was incredible. All, from a player of just 21. He looks like a real talent and despite his small frame, he has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water. Leeds look really exciting.
