Brendan Rodgers suggests that Celtic will sign a defender in the January transfer window.

Celtic's head coach Brendan Rodgers talks during a press conference in Brussels on September 26, 2017 on the eve of the Champions League group B) football match against RSC Anderlecht.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he wants to sign a new central defender in the January transfer window.

The Glasgow giants have had injury problems at the back throughout the season so far.

Jozo Simunovic has been ruled out for three weeks, according to The Scottish Sun, while fellow centre-backs Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata have also struggled with injury concerns this term.

Celtic manager Rodgers has revealed that he is looking to sign a central defender in the January transfer window.

“It’s definitely an area I need to look at now, centre-half is a position where you need stability,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “It’s been unfortunate for us we haven’t had that.”

Celtic have the best squad in Scotland and will win the Scottish Premiership even without signing any more players in the January transfer window.

However, the Hoops need to sign a centre-back in order to give themselves more stability and perhaps progress in the Europa League.

Simunovic is a very good centre-back, but his injury problems mean that the Celtic Park outfit cannot rely on him.

Celtic will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Hibernian in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
