Dedryck Boyata joined Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2015.

Boyata has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Manchester City for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5 million.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, the 26-year-old defender’s current contract with the Glasgow giants runs until the summer of 2019.
Celtic manager Rodgers has said that he wants Boyata to remain at Celtic Park beyond his current deal.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss has also revealed that talks over a new contract have started.

“Dedryck would go into his final year next summer, but I’d love him to stay,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “His representatives have spoken to Peter Lawwell and I’ve also spoken to Dedryck.
“He understands what I think, but you always have to respect the player. We will chat again.”
“There is nothing yet on Dedryck’s contract, but I’d like him to extend it, very much so,” added Rodgers.

Boyata is arguably the best central defender at Celtic at the moment, and it would make sense for the club to hand him a new contract at the end of the season.
The Belgium international is playing regularly under Rodgers, and one suspects that if the terms are right, he would be more than willing to commit his long-term future to the Glasgow giants.
