According to the Sunday Post, Liverpool are interested in signing Aston Villa and Scotland maestro John McGinn.
What’s the story?
Well, the Reds have been linked with a swoop for the 26-year-old, after he worked his way onto Jürgen Klopp’s shortlist.
McGinn scored three goals and provided six assists in 37 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa in 2020/21.
The £25,000-a-week man has also impressed for Scotland at EURO 2020 alongside Andy Robertson.
The Sunday Post believe Liverpool could make a £20 million move.
In our view, that wouldn’t be anywhere near enough to tempt Dean Smith into selling his all-action No.7, who the Villans paid just £2 million for.
Brendan Rodgers rates John McGinn highly

Before Steve Bruce signed McGinn for Aston Villa, Brendan Rodgers made attempts to bring him to Celtic.
After losing out on him, Rodgers called the former Hibernian midfielder to wish him well, before praising him in the media.
The Herald quote Rodgers as saying: “I was given an indication of where he was at. It was just a call out of courtesy really. He is a young man that I would like to see do well.
“He is very committed to his profession and a very good player. I wish him all the very best.”
In our view, McGinn is a Klopp player in every single sense.

He can combine his incredible energy levels with fantastic technical ability, in similar fashion to Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
McGinn is also a pressing machine, and rarely gives opponents time to breathe on the ball – it’s no wonder Klopp is interested.
If Liverpool pull this deal off, it would be yet another clever addition from Michael Edwards – the 35-cap Scotland international is perfect for the Reds.
