Brendan Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he knew he was making the perfect signing for Celtic when he brought in Scott Sinclair last summer.

Sinclair was snapped up by Celtic at the start of the season, after Aston Villa made him available.

And Rodgers said that he knew that Sinclair would make a major impact in Glasgow from the moment that he completed the transfer.

“He is a great boy,” Rodgers said. “I knew what I was getting which is why I thought he would be perfect for Celtic.

“In the main, the majority of Scottish football supporters – although they know he is a threat – will notice a real upgrade in level of player when they watch him.

“Not only that, he is a real good kid as well. He is a young man who leads his life well, trains virtually every day. All the supporters up here want that type of talent to be here, not to be pushed out of it any way at all.

“My responsibility is to bring the best game to Scotland that we can, particularly Celtic, and for that you need the best players.”

Rodgers worked with Sinclair at Swansea City earlier in their respective careers, and the Northern Irish boss certainly seems to know how to get the best out of the winger.

Sinclair has been nothing short of a revelation since moving to Celtic Park, with his performances being highly impressive.

The 28-year-old has netted 25 goals in 45 appearances for Celtic across all competitions this season.

Sinclair was also named Celtic’s player of the season recently, with plaudits continuing to flood his way.

Sinclair’s attacking quality has been a major reason why Celtic remain unbeaten in all domestic competitions so far this season.
