Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers seems to have written off Rangers’ chances of challenging for the Scottish Premiership title next season, according to comments published in The Scotsman.

Rangers finished third in the Scottish Premiership this season, as many as 12 points behind Old Firm rivals and eventual winners Celtic.

The Ibrox club ended up third as well in the league during the 2016-17 campaign, 39 points behind Rodgers’s team, who won the title.

Celtic boss Rodgers has suggested that Rangers, who will have Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as their manager next season, will not be able to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.

No threat from Rangers?

Aberdeen’s performances and results over the past few seasons have been hugely encouraging, and they should be considered as genuine threat to Celtic.

Although Rangers have finished third in the Scottish Premiership table for the past two seasons, the Gers have to be taken seriously as well.

After all, with Gerrard now in charge of the Ibrox club, they will be able to attract quality players, who can at least help them clothe gap on Celtic.
