Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose at Watford and Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea.
Tottenham star Rose and Southampton ace Bertrand are two of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
Rodgers worked with 27-year-old Rose at Watford and with 28-year-old Bertrand at Chelsea.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City manager has suggested that Celtic left-back Tierney is as good as Rose and Bertrand.
“Kieran Tierney was up against Arjen Robben and he was outstanding again,” Rodgers told ESPN. ”I had Danny Rose as a young player at Watford and I worked with Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea.
“And Kieran is right up there with those boys. He is still very young and those boys are into their latter twenties.
“He still has bits of improvements to make but his quality, his will, his determination and his focus for a young player is outstanding and he loves playing for Celtic.”
Rodgers made the aforementioned comments about Tierney following Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at Celtic Park in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
The Scotland international played well against the German giants, and it is clear that he is a special talent.
However, it is too early to compare the 20-year-old to Rose and Bertrand, as he is only just starting his career and is playing in a ‘not-so-competitive’ Scottish Premiership.
True, Tierney can become one of the best left-backs in the world, but for now he needs to be consistent and play well against the best teams.
