Kouassi Eboue made his first start for Celtic last night.

Brendan Rodgers has joked in the Scottish Sun that he thought he’d signed Eboue Kouassi’s brother, after watching the way he started in Celtic’s match against Partick last night.

Kouassi was handed his first start for Celtic yesterday, but he made a shaky opening to the match.

The Ivorian midfielder was guilty of giving possession away cheaply in the early stages of the contest.

However, Kouassi improved as he became more settled – and Rodgers ended up praising the 19-year-old.

“Eboue didn’t start great, bless him,” Rodgers said.

“After the first five minutes I thought we had signed his brother!

“But he grew into the game and he started showing what he’s been showing in training.

“He good mobility and was getting around the pitch. I thought he did well after that little spell arriving into Scottish football.”

Kouassi has had a slow start to his Celtic career, after arriving in Glasgow during the January transfer window.

However, the powerful midfielder could be handed more of a chance now that Celtic have wrapped the Scottish Premiership title up.

Rodgers has hinted that he will continue to rotate Celtic’s team, with his main focus on beating Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

Celtic’s next match comes at the weekend, when they take on Kilmarnock at Parkhead.
