Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers shares his plan regarding the January transfer window.

Rodgers has suggested that due to his right-backs’ potential involvement in the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia next summer, he needs cover for that position in order to prepare for the Champions League qualifiers.

Cristian Gamboa will feature for Costa Rica, while Mikael Lustig will turn out for Sweden in Russia in 2018.
Anthony Ralston is a talented and promising right-back, but the Scotsman is only 19 years of age and is just starting his professional club football career.
Celtic manager Rodgers has suggested that he will sign a right-back in the January transfer window.

“We have to prepare for that in the next window to ensure we’re covered,” Rodgers told The Daily Record. “Gamboa and Lustig are right-sided defensive players so that’s a key area for us because we don’t want to be left short.
“Tony Ralston can cover but it’s an area we need to consider. We have been short in certain areas over the last two summers, so January is a big window for us if we feel we need to do something.”
It is quite a smart idea of Rodgers to start planning for the Champions League qualifiers next summer from January.
The problem, though, is that there could be too many right-backs to choose from in the second half of the season. Would Rodgers be able to keep all of them happy?
