Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic are in Europa League action this evening.
The Scottish Premiership side will take on Leipzig away from home in the Europa League Group B on Thursday evening.
Scott Brown is on the sidelines at the moment with a calf problem, and the former Scotland international midfielder will not feature for the Hoops.
Celtic manager Rodgers has suggested that Kouassi will take the place of Brown in the team against Leipzig.
Rodgers told The Scottish Sun: “Broony’s level of performance for two and a bit years for me has been exceptional. It’s limited the number of opportunities for the likes of Eboue Kouassi.
“But he’ll get a chance to come in now. He’s shown at times when he’s come in and played.
“Eboue’s a good player. He shows me in training every day that he’s a very good player.”
Big chance
Kouassi has struggled to make a huge impact at Celtic since his move from Krasnodar in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3 million.
If the 20-year-old does start against Leipzig this afternoon, then the midfielder will have to take the chance and impress for the Hoops.
The Celtic youngster is a very good and promising midfielder, and this evening could be his chance to show the Glasgow giants’ fans that he can step up when needed.
