Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers backs Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes for the Sunderland job.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Times that Derek McInnes would be a good managerial candidate for Sunderland.
McInnes is in charge of Aberdeen at the moment and has a contract with the Scottish Premiership club until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Sunderland are looking for a new manager following the resignation of David Moyes at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Celtic manager Rodgers, formerly at Swansea City and Liverpool, believes that McInnes would be a good boss for the Black Cats.
“He is perfect for it,” Rodgers told The Times regarding McInnes and Sunderland. “A really, really good fit. They are a big club that has had a change and now needs someone who can organise: someone who has been at a big club.
“Derek played at Rangers. He has been down in England and had a difficult time so he gets that. And he has done a great job with Aberdeen, which is a big job.
“He would go in, give them a bit of life, get them organised. He knows the game, he can motivate players, and the Championship is a tough league. I got promoted there with Swansea and it is 46 games of graft and commitment.
“It would be brilliant for him if that is what he wanted. A club of that magnitude — it is a big club, Sunderland — would be perfect.”

Aberdeen finished second in the Scottish Premiership this season and are a big club in Scotland; McInnes seems happy at the Pittodrie Stadium.
However, switching to Sunderland could prove to be too tempting to resist. The Black Cats are a big club in England and have a loyal fanbase.
True, Sunderland will feature in the Championship next season, but with the right signings in the summer transfer window, they could get promoted to the Premier League.
