How will Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic fare in the Champions League this season?

Celtic are playing in the group stage of the Champions League for the second season in a row.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are third in Group B at the moment with three points from as many matches.
The Glasgow giants are three points behind second-placed Bayern Munich and six behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG and Bayern are two of the biggest clubs in the world and have two of the strongest teams in Europe at the moment.

It is hard to see PSG and Bayern not finishing in the top two in Group B, and Celtic will have to settle for third spot.
The away win against Anderlecht has given the Hoops an edge regarding the third spot, which will see them drop to the Europa League.
Celtic manager Rodgers has suggested that the Glasgow giants will consider it a big step if they play in the Europa League after Christmas.

“We are looking to create a group who can come and be competitive at Champions League level,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “If you get third in the group and go into the Europa after Christmas, then it’s a big step.
“You think of the level in this competition and it’s absolutely frightening really. For us, this is what we have to do in this new football.”
Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has suggested in The Daily Record that manager Rodgers should include striker Moussa Dembele and attacking midfielder Tom Rogic in the starting lineup against Bayern at Celtic Park in the Champions League Group B on October 31.
“Bayern are in Glasgow on Tuesday week and I’d have both Dembele and Rogic in the starting line-up, which means the Frenchman is going to have to get some minutes over the next 11 days,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Mail (October 20, 2017).
