Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers inspired his team to a 3-1 victory in the Champions League last night.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Record that he insisted to his players that it was his fault that the Bhoys started slowly last night against Rosenborg.

Celtic went into the break with the score locked at 1-1 against their Norwegian opponents.

And Rodgers felt that he got his tactics wrong at kick-off, as Celtic started in an unfamiliar formation.

He said: “I was honest with the players at half-time. It wasn’t working for us so it was a good lesson for us. I said to the players it was my fault but we will go back to a system and a rhythm we know well and we stayed calm.”

Celtic eventually went on to win the tie 3-1, to take a step closer to the Champions League group stage.

Odsonne Edouard scored a brace for Celtic, with Olivier Ntcham also hitting the back of the net.

The Bhoys are now heavy favourites to make it through to the next round of qualification, with Rodgers’ side’ able to take a healthy advantage to Norway.

Celtic’s second leg against Rosenborg comes next Wednesday at the Lerkendal Stadion.
