Brendan Rodgers shares what he told Celtic’s players following their defeat to PSG

Celtic were beaten heavily by PSG in their last match in the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he was not hard on his Celtic team, after they were heavily beaten by PSG in the Champions League.

Celtic have largely dominated in every domestic match they have played this season, but they were given a rude awakening when they took on PSG.

The French champions put the Bhoys to the sword – winning 5-0 at Parkhead while throughly outplaying Rodgers’ side.

Rodgers insists that he could not be too hard on his team though, and was pleased with the way they responded with a 4-0 victory over Ross County.

“I said to the players we learn from it, remain positive and press the reset button and go again,” Rodgers said.

“It’s always a mark of the good side to respond, we scored four goals and kept a clean sheet. Overall I thought it was a really good performance.”

Celtic won all three domestic trophies last season, and they currently lead the way in the Scottish Premiership again.

However, Rodgers has expressed a desire to make more of an impact in Europe, and their defeat to PSG showed that there is still a lot of progress that the Bhoys need to make.

Celtic are next in action tomorrow against Dundee, before they take on Glasgow rivals Rangers at the weekend.

Rodgers’ side’s next European contest comes on 27th September against Anderlecht.
