Brendan Rodgers shares what he told Celtic’s players after PSG defeat

Celtic were beaten 7-1 by PSG in Champions League action last night.

Brendan Rodgers has told BT Sport during their Champions League coverage, which was broadcast on 22nd November, that he was not angry with his Celtic players after their 7-1 defeat against PSG last night.

Celtic took on arguably the toughest test in football yesterday, as they travelled to Paris to face Unai Emery’s dangerous side and they simply couldn’t cope.

The likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani proved too difficult for Celtic to deal with, and they were ruthless throughout the contest.

In the end the Bhoys were handed another heavy European defeat, but Rodgers insists that he wasn’t reading the riot act to his players after the contest.

He said: “I said to the players afterwards that they’ve come here and they’re playing against the best of the best.

“I think in Barcelona we showed that bit of disbelief. In this game we had lots of times where we did have good periods of the game.”

Celtic actually took the lead against PSG last night, after Moussa Dembele netted from a corner, but they could not hold on.

From the moment Neymar scored an equaliser, PSG didn’t look back – with six further strikes going beyond Craig Gordon.

Celtic now are looking to hold on to third place in the group, to try and ensure they remain in the Europa League.

If Celtic don’t concede against Anderlecht at Parkhead on the final round of Champions League group stage action, they will be guaranteed to finish ahead of the Belgian champions.
