Celtic have made a sensational start to their Scottish Premiership title defence.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s superb 4-0 win at St Johnstone on Saturday, and shared the message that he gave his players on his very first day in charge at Parkhead, as quoted by the Morning Star.
Celtic’s win at the weekend was their 63rd game in a row unbeaten, and they eclipsed their own record that has stood for over 100 years.
And Rodgers deserves great credit for the manner in which he has galvanised the Glasgow giants, following Ronny Deila’s departure from the club in 2016.
The Hoops currently sit comfortably at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, three points clear of second placed Aberdeen, and there is a wonderfully optimistic atmosphere emanating from Parkhead.
And Rodgers spoke to reporters about his side’s impressive achievement, opening up on what he told his players when he first took over at Celtic 17 months ago, as quoted by the Morning Star:
“It’s fairly simple, it’s something I mentioned when I first came in: we need to be allergic to it (complacency) and that’s something we have created to the 17th month of working together. I said it on the first day but it’s something we have dedicated our lives to every single day, and that excellence of always looking to be better.”
Rodgers and Celtic now have to wait two weeks before they play again due to the international break, and return to action with a trip to Ross County on November 18th.
