Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed to The Daily Record that he keeps in touch with Steven Gerrard via text messages.
Rodgers worked with Gerrard when the duo were at Premier League club Liverpool.
The former Swansea City manager almost guided the Reds to the Premier League title in the 2013-14 campaign.
Gerrard, currently on the books of Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy, was a key player for Rodgers during his time at Anfield.
Rodgers has revealed how he and the former Liverpool midfielder keep in touch with each other.
“We’ve kept in touch,” Rodgers told The Daily Record regarding Gerrard. “Obviously, with the time difference recently, it’s been a bit less.
“There have been text messages. He was one of the first ones to send me a message when I got the job at Celtic. Whenever I have a good result here, he sends a message.”
Gerrard is on the books of LA Galaxy at the moment has a contract until December 2016, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
According to a recent report in The Daily Record, the English midfielder could move to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the January transfer window.
The 36-year-old former England international may be past his prime, but the midfielder would certainly be a good addition to the current Celtic squad.
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 31 points from 11 matches.
