James Forrest is playing well for Celtic at the moment.

Rodgers, who was appointed the Celtic boss in the summer of 2016 following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, has also disclosed that the 26-year-old has turned down offers when he started his tenure at Celtic Park.

The former Liverpool manager told The Scottish Sun about Forrest: “When I accepted the role I made a few calls. I wanted to get round and talk to players and I was aware of where he was at with his contract.
“He’d turned down a couple of previous offers and only had six months remaining. But when I spoke to him on the phone, I reassured him that we could work well together.
“He has a lovely smile, James. He’s a great boy, really relaxed. Everybody loves him here. His temperament is wonderful. So I sat him down and said ‘It’s like you’ve been on loan for two years, where have you been?’”

Forrest has gone from strength to strength under Rodgers, and is now one of the most important players in the current Celtic side.
The 26-year-old winger is playing well, both in Scotland and in Europe, and it seems that he is enjoying himself again.
The return of Patrick Roberts on loan from Manchester City has only made Forrest step up his game.
Celtic are going strong in the Scottish Premiership at the moment and are set to win the league title yet again this season.
The Glasgow giants are also likely to drop to the round-of-32 stage of the Europa League from the Champions League.
