The Celtic manager was praising the striker for winning a late penalty against Motherwell.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has praised Moussa Dembele, telling the Daily Mail he was the perfect example of the team’s spirit in the win over Motherwell.
The Hoops continued their fine start to the season as they beat Motherwell 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
They left it late to make sure of the win, though, as striker Dembele raced on to a Scott Brown pass in the 87th minute to earn his side a penalty and seal the win.
It was a superb display of hunger from the forward, who could have been excused for not chasing down the ball at such a late stage in the game.
The hunger to do just that earned him praise from his manager, who says it was a perfect example of the spirit in this current squad.
“Moussa was just a perfect example of the spirit in the team, in that they will chase everything,” he told the Daily Mail.
“That looked like it was dead, it was going to go through to the keeper but Moussa made it something and, in my experience, the best strikers do that.”
Celtic will be hoping that Dembele continues to show this kind of hunger throughout the rest of the campaign.
It certainly made a difference on this occasion, with the 2-0 win ensuring that the reigning champions maintained a four-point lead over Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic can extend that lead to seven points should they manage to win their game in hand.
For now, their attention turns to the Champions League as they take on Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek.
