Brendan Rodgers has showered praise on Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.
Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is facing a potential one-match ban after he was charged by UEFA for provoking spectators at the end of last Friday’s Champions League qualifier against Linfield in Belfast.
Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, hopes that the striker has learnt his lesson. However, the former Liverpool manager has given his full support to the player, saying it is his job to coach and manage him in a better way.
He is miffed that one of his star players could be banned for a crucial European game for a moment of madness, but at the same time he doesn’t want to be too hard on his star striker.

Rodgers does not want Griffiths to lose too much of his devilish side and said there is nothing he could do that would force him to show the exit door.
What matters most to Rodgers is his performance on the pitch. And from that perspective, he is delighted to have a player like Griffiths in his side.
Rodgers has hailed him as a “remarkable talent” and a “good finisher”. The 26-year-old striker scored 18 goals last season in all competitions for the Hoops.

“He loves it and I love having him here. I am always going to need at least two top strikers here,” said Rodgers, as quoted by the Daily Record (printed edition; page 54)
“He is a remarkable talent. He is as good a finisher as you’ll see, how he hits the ball, how he works his positions.”
“I have seen the stories many times but I wouldn’t even bother writing it – he is not one I would ever want to lose here.”
