Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic was linked with a move to Torino in the summer transfer window.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that Jozo Simunovic did not want to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Simunovic will remain at Celtic until January at least after his move to Italian club Torino in the summer transfer window collapsed.
As the 22-year-old defender revealed on social networking site Twitter, Torino wanted to change the terms of the deal with the Scottish Premiership giants at the last minute (click here to read more).
Celtic manager Rodgers has claimed that the Croatia Under-21 international centre-back did not want to leave the Bhoys.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss has also stated that Simunovic has been training well and is looking forward to playing competitive football again.
“I had a good chat with Jozo and my feeling is he probably didn’t want to go,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “In training he looks a really good player. I think he is looking forward to playing again.”
Celtic will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle away from home at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the Scottish Premiership.
The Hoops will head into the match on the back of a 7-0 defeat to Barcelona away from home at Camp Nou in Champions League Group C.
