Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that Michael Johnston is progressing well.

Rodgers made the comments following Celtic’s win against Rosenborg at Celtic Park in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old striker did not start the match, but the teenager came on as a substitute in the 58th minute.

The Scotland Under-21 international played well for the Hoops, who won the match 1-0.

Celtic manager Rodgers has spoken highly of the young striker and is pleased with the teenager’s progress.

Rodgers told The Scottish Sun: “Mikey was dynamic and he is progressing really well. His best side is the left, there’s no doubt, but he’s shown he can play on the right.”

Promising talent

Johnston is a very talented and promising young striker, and Rodgers’s comments will encourage him.

While it is hard to see the teenager play regularly for the Hoops right now, he is only 19 years of age and has time on his hand.

Rodgers has spoken highly of Johnston before, as he described the 19-year-old in July 2018, as quoted by BBC Sport, as “exciting” and “a special talent”.
