Brendan Rodgers says Celtic duo Lustig and Forrest available for final

Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup this weekend.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told BBC Sport that Mikael Lustig and James Forrest will be available for Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen this weekend.

The Hoops will take on Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Both Lustig and Forrest featured in the Bhoys’ 1-0 win against Rosenborg away from home in Norway in the Europa League Group G game on Thursday evening.

While the 31-year-old right-back had to be substituted midway through the second half due to a dead leg, the 27-year-old winger came off on 77 minutes after suffering a knock.

Celtic manager Rodgers has told BBC Sport that the Sweden international and the Scotland international “will be fine” for the match against Aberdeen.

Positive update

Forrest has been one of the best players for Celtic so far this season, and the Scotland international winger being fit and available for the match against Aberdeen is certainly great news for the Hoops.

Lustig is also an important player for the Glasgow giants, who will fancy their chances of winning the Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen.
