Rodgers nearly guided Liverpool to the Premier League title during his tenure, but what does he make of Klopp’s side’s chances.
Brendan Rodgers has told Jim White on talkSPORT (broadcast on December 7th 2016) that he believes that Liverpool have a very good chance of winning the Premier League title this season.
The Reds have made an excellent start to the campaign, and are being talked about as genuine title contenders for the first time since Rodgers’ side nearly scaled the mountain in 2014.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently third in the table, four points off top spot, and are the highest-scoring team in the division with 35 goals coming in their first 14 games.
And when asked about his former club’s chances of going one better than they did over two years ago, Rodgers suggested that the Merseyside outfit have reason to be optimistic.

“The players that were there when I was there have got greater experiences now, Coutinho and Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva and the like,” he told Jim White on talkSPORT.
“These are guys that have been through it. And I think that [with] one game a week, they can really focus on that. For me, they’ll be very, very close.
“He’s done great, Jurgen. [He’s] Got them really working and got them focused and they’ve got big quality in the squad so I’m sure they’ll be in with a great chance.”

What should perhaps boost Liverpool’s chances of getting their hands on the trophy is the fact that so many teams are being included in the title conversation, even just before the Christmas period.
That suggests that no team is quite emerging from the pack and stamping their authority on the race, and that should encourage the Reds to be that team that sprints away from their rivals over the coming months.
