Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has enjoyed a wonderful first campaign in charge of the Bhoys.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted to the Scottish Sun that he simply cannot guarantee that he will be at Celtic for a decade, because opinions can change so dramatically in football.

Rodgers is currently held in very high regard at Celtic Park, with supporters and players both singing his praises this season.

The Northern Irish boss has remarkably still not tasted defeat in a domestic game, since taking charge of the Bhoys last summer.

Celtic look to be well on their way to completing the treble in Rodgers’ first season in charge, and the former Liverpool manager has consistently stated how much he has enjoyed his time in Glasgow so far.

However, Rodgers knows how quickly things can change – and he was keen not to make any outlandish promises about his future, when asked whether he would be at Celtic for the next decade.

He said: “I am realistic and the reality in this modern world is that people can quickly fall out of love with you.

“One day you are the devil, the next you can walk on water. I never get too carried away and make rash statements that I will be here for ten years.

“It would be a huge pleasure if I was but the reality is that may not be the case.

“I signed for four years because that is what I want to be here for — to help the club develop on and off the field.

“And then after that you see where it takes us.”

Rodgers has persistently indicated a desire to stay with Celtic until the end of his contract, but his high level of performance is sure to attract admiring glances.

Talk has already emerged that Rodgers could return to manage in the Premier League at some stage in his career, but Celtic fans should rest safe in the knowledge that he is intending to stay with them for the foreseeable future.
