Scott Sinclair helped Celtic to a comfortable win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Celtic winger Scott Sinclair is ‘one of a few’ players who can keep up with speedster Olivier Burke.
The Bhoys booked their place into the next round of the Scottish Cup as they dispatched St Johnstone 5-0 on home soil, with Sinclair bagging a hat-trick for his side.
Both Sinclair and Burke started the encounter, with the attacking duo causing the opposition constant problems with their directness and pace.
After the match, Rodgers praised Sinclair for doing what he does best as he also gave a special mention to the ‘professional’ Johnny Hayes.
“Scott Sinclair is one of the few players who can keep up with Ollie Burke,” said Rodgers, as posted by the club’s official Twitter account. “That’s what he does, he’s a goal-scorer.
“Guys like Johnny Hayes, too, they aren’t playing as much, but he was great and he defended well. That’s testament to how professional he is.”
Sinclair moved to Celtic Park during the summer of 2016 when he left then-relegated Premier League side Aston Villa to re-join his former Swansea manager Rodgers in Scotland.
The 29-year-old ace has played a major part in Celtic winning the double treble under the stewardship of Rodgers as they are on course to do the same once again this season.
Over the course of this campaign, Sinclair has played 40 games in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and supplying his teammates with six assists.
During his three years in Glasgow, he has played 145 matches for the club, where he has been utilised across the front three, scoring 59 goals and providing 34 assists.
