Brendan Rodgers has raved about Celtic’s Kieran Tierney

Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic’s official website that Kieran Tierney is the fastest player in his squad.
The 20-year-old scored Celtic’s second goal in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Aberdeen, galloping from one end of the pitch to the other in a matter of seconds to finish off a swift counter attack.
Tierney is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and has earned rave reviews for his defensive work since breaking into the Hoops’ senior side over two years ago.

And Rodgers says that a number of different tests during Celtic’s training camp in Dubai last month revealed that the young Scot is in a league of his own in one particular area: speed.
“Sometimes people will have certain perceptions about players and I don’t think anyone would have thought he would be the fastest player in this squad,” he told Celtic’s website.

“His power and speed off a standing start is fantastic. My teams tend to have dynamic players with speed in them and he’s a player who can carry out that role.
“He’s unique, Kieran, because he’s very robust and very strong for a young player. He’s worked very hard on his body and his intensity is incredible, he trains to the max every day and he’s got stronger and more powerful since I’ve been here. We had some measurements on that in Dubai and he was the quickest player in our squad.”
From Scott Sinclair, to Charly Musonda, to Moussa Dembele, Rodgers has plenty of lightning-quick players in the squad and it’s interesting that Tierney gazumps them all.
It’s only a matter of time before a massive club takes a serious interest in the youngster, but Celtic can expect to be handsomely compensated nevertheless by virtue of the fact he’s under contract until 2023.
