Brendan Rodgers praises Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon’s performance in training

Craig Gordon is set to start for Celtic in their match against Dundee tonight.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed to the Telegraph that he has been impressed by Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon in training.

Gordon picked up an injury recently and lost his place in Celtic’s goal, with Scott Bain replacing him.

Bain’s form has kept him in Celtic’s starting line-up for their last three matches, but Gordon will return this evening against Dundee.

Bain is on loan from Dundee and cannot play against his parent club, due to the terms of his deal.

But Rodgers has no qualms with putting Gordon back in, as the Scot has impressed in Celtic training of late.

“Craig is back before his target date and he’s worked very hard, looked good in training and we’ll just make sure there are no after-effects,” Rodgers said.

Gordon now has a chance to reclaim his spot in Celtic’s goal for the remainder of the season.

Gordon’s position in Celtic’s starting line-up has been questioned this term, as he has made some errors in European competition.

Rodgers has also confirmed his intention to sign Bain on a permanent deal, with Gordon’s position now under significant threat.
