Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has explained to The Mirror how to get the best out of Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling.

Rodgers worked with Sterling at Liverpool and rates the England international highly.

The 21-year-old, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, was on the books of the Reds from 2010 until 2015.

Former Liverpool manager Rodgers, who was appointed the Celtic boss in the summer, has revealed how to get the best out of the England international.

“He has to be in a clear structure, with a way of working,” Rodgers told The Mirror about Sterling.

“When he’s in that, he’s one of the world’s leading young talents; super-fast, dynamic, great on the one-v-one, very strong. He just needed to regain his identity, what he is.

“He’s clearly working now with a coach who is very clear in terms of how he wants to play and I think when you have that with Raheem you maximise what you get out of him.”

Sterling will come up against his former manager on Wednesday evening when City and Celtic face each other in the Champions League.

The Bhoys will take on City at Celtic Park in Group C, and not many will expect them to win.

City are a much better team and will head into the match against the Hoops are red-hot favourites.

Sterling has been in brilliant form so far this season, scoring four goals and creating seven chances in six Premier League appearances.

It is hard to see Celtic win against City in Glasgow, but the players will certainly give their all.
