Brendan Rodgers outlines his one disappointment from Celtic’s emphatic win over Aberdeen

Celtic moved themselves clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they thrashed Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Brendan Rodgers has told BT Sport’s live post-match coverage of Celtic’s clash with Aberdeen (broadcast on 25th October 2017 from 19:15 pm) that he had one disappointment from the Hoops’ emphatic win regarding how quickly they moved the ball at 3-0 up.

The Hoops went into the game with the Dons looking to create some daylight between the two teams in the Scottish Premiership after their hugely impressive starts to the league campaign.

And they managed that in emphatic fashion as they thrashed Derek McInnes’ men 3-0 thanks to a goal from Kieran Tierney and a brace from Moussa Dembele.

Given Aberdeen’s start to the campaign, Rodgers would have surely been forgiven for finding virtually no faults in the performance and letting the side enjoy the victory for a little while before they properly analyse the game. However, he suggested that they needed to play with more intensity when they were 3-0 up.

“My only disappointment I said to the players afterwards was that, at 3-0, you can go and win by four and five, but you’ve got to move the ball quicker. With a Champions League clash with Bayern Munich just around the corner after they face Kilmarnock at the weekend, Rodgers’ suggestion that the performance was not flawless may perhaps be his attempt to ensure that the side feel that they still have something to prove as it would undoubtedly be very easy for the squad to get carried away with how well they are doing domestically currently.
