Leicester City will turn down any approach from Newcastle United for Brendan Rodgers, according to The Northern Echo.

What’s the story?

The Northern Echo have reported that the new Newcastle owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), have identified Leicester manager Rodgers as a potential replacement for Steve Bruce.

Rodgers, a former Liverpool manager, is reportedly a ‘a viable contender’.

However, Leicester are not willing to let the former Celtic manager go and will do all they can to keep him at the King Power Stadium.

Disappointment awaits for PIF?

Leicester are an established club in the Premier League and are rich themselves.

There is no financial pressure on the Foxes to let Rodgers go, especially during a season.

Remember, Leicester are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four, and will know that they will struggle to find as capable a manager as Rodgers now.

It is very likely that PIF and Amanda Staveley will be disappointed in their quest to bring Rodgers to St. James’ Park.

However, as we all know, anything and everything is possible in football.

We do not know how Rodgers will react if Newcastle came calling.

Would the former Liverpool boss – who earns £15 million per year (£288,461 per month) as salary, according to Football Insider – be tempted?
