Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times.

Leigh Griffiths has told the Scotsman that he has no desire to leave Celtic, and that must be music to Brendan Rodgers’ ears right now.

Griffiths has endured a difficult season at Celtic, where he has been rotated in and out of the Bhoys’ starting line-up.

The Scottish international has faced competition for his place from both Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard, and his future has been speculated.

Griffiths has been linked with a move away from Celtic to make a switch back to England.

But Griffiths insists that he has no desire to leave Parkhead right now.

“I don’t want to leave here,” said Griffiths. “It’s a massive club and I love playing for this club. I am focusing on trying to hit that 100-goal mark and won’t be going anywhere.”

Griffiths’ comments should delight Rodgers, as losing him right now would have been unthinkable.

With Dembele looking likely to leave Celtic in the near future, Rodgers wouldn’t want to have been looking for an entirely new front line.

Griffiths has scored prolifically in Scotland, and if Dembele does depart, there will be confidence that the former Wolves man can step into Celtic’s starting line-up and cover for the Frenchman.
