Celtic have lost captain Scott Brown, as he has decided to leave the club for Aberdeen this summer.
The 35-year-old was set to be out of contract this summer, and he has now called time on his 14-year stint with the Bhoys.
Brown is heading for Aberdeen this summer, penning a two-year deal at Pittodrie in which he will also serve as assistant to Stephen Glass.
Brown and Glass played together at Hibernian, and the Celtic man clearly feels this is the best move for him as he approaches the end of his playing career and start of his coaching career.
Signed from Hibs in 2007, Brown has racked up more than 600 appearances for Celtic, scoring 46 goals whilst securing 10 league titles.
With another 12 domestic trophies to his name, Brown has been a Celtic hero for more than a decade now – and Brendan Rodgers is backing him for a return one day.
Rodgers, who coached Brown at Celtic between 2016 and 2019, has told the Daily Record that has no doubt that Brown can end up being Bhoys manager in the future.

Rodgers noted that Brown is ‘absolutely loved’ at Parkhead, and thinks taking the step with Aberdeen is best for him as he looks to get a foothold in management down the line.
“There’s no doubt that Scott has the capacity to go back to Celtic one day and be manager of the club. He clearly wants to learn the ropes as a coach,” said Rodgers. “It’s difficult to jump straight into management. He’ll go with Stephen at Aberdeen and together, they’ll learn about coaching. He’s going to a very good club.”
“If he shows that same hunger and dedication that he had as a player, as a coach, he’ll be successful. If he can transfer the influence he has as a player on to his coaching, there’s definitely a pathway for Scott to go back and manage Celtic. He’s absolutely loved there,” he added.
