The Celtic manager says that he would have won a trophy by now at Barcelona.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Daily Mail that he would have a trophy by now if he worked at Barcelona.
Rodgers is in charge of Celtic at the moment, having been appointed the Scottish club’s manager in the summer.
The 43-year-old is likely to win a major trophy with the Bhoys this season, probably the Scottish Premiership.
The former Watford and Swansea City manager came close to winning the Premier League title during the 2013-14 season with Liverpool.
Rodgers, who was sacked by the Reds in October 2015, has stated that he could have won a trophy had he been at Barcelona.
“What Scottish football doesn’t have is a platform like the Premier League,” Rodgers told The Daily Mail. “But Celtic is a club which is bigger than three-quarters of Premier League teams.
“The expectation is huge. There aren’t many clubs where you have to cope with that pressure to win every single game.
“If I worked at Barcelona, I’d have won a trophy by now, no question about that. But in the English Premier League, where the British managers are being judged and measured, it’s very, very tough.”
Rodgers’s comments about winning a trophy with Barcelona sound quite confident, but there is an element of truth to it.
Barca, who are one of the biggest clubs in the world, have won winning trophies regularly for years, and that streak is unlikely to change anytime soon.
The Spanish club have some of the best players in the world, such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta.
Celtic will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Old Firm rivals Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
