Kieran Tierney has played no part in Celtic’s last five fixtures, and Brendan Rodgers has not ruled out the left-back needing surgery.

Tierney has not featured in any of the Hoops’ last five fixtures – but did make the bench for the Old Firm game at the end of December – and has not trained since the Scottish Premiership champions headed out to Dubai.
And perhaps worryingly, Rodgers admitted that the club have not yet found out whether the left-back is going to need to go under the knife to solve the issue, conceding that the Bhoys are currently having to be patient.

“He’s still not training but he’s out here with the rehab team so hopefully next week we’ll see if there is any reaction when he starts training.”
Having Tierney back for the resumption of the season will provide a big boost to Celtic’s side. He is clearly the best left-back in the squad and across the entire division.

Emilio Izaguirre is a popular figure at Parkhead, but his form since coming into the team has been disappointing, and that seemed to prompt Rodgers to pick Callum McGregor at left-back for the trip to Ibrox.
In fairness to McGregor, he was surely Celtic’s best player on the day. But of course, he is much more influential in the middle of the park, so Hoops fans would be forgiven for keeping everything crossed that Tierney’s injury improves significantly in the coming days and the possibility of surgery disappears.
