Brendan Rodgers celebrates
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted to the club’s official website that their tough Champions League group is exciting for them.
The Scottish champions secured their return to the group stages of the competition earlier this week despite a 2-0 away defeat to Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
They were rewarded for their efforts with a tough group, however, as the draw saw them placed alongside Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach in Group C.

Not many are expecting them to advance to the knockout stages as a result, with some suggestions it has actually been a nightmare draw for them.
Rodgers has denied that suggestion though, insisting that they in fact some really exciting games for his side.
“It’s some really exciting games for us,” he told the club’s official website.
“It’s glamorous games back at Celtic Park and it’s great for everyone. For the supporters I’m sure they’re really excited about the three teams we’ve been drawn against.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
It is certainly going to be interesting to see how Celtic fare in the Champions League after being handed this group.
Rodgers was brought in to the club with the specific aim of making it back into the competition but their stay may be a short one based on their fellow group members.
Indeed, while they will be keen to try and make it into the knockout stages, the Celtic boss may be wiser to try and ensure they can secure third and a place in the Europa League, which is definitely more winnable.
